Gigi De Canio met Lecce's board last night to discuss his future and it was apparently agreed that he should remain in charge of the club.
The 53-year-old offered his resignation following Sunday's 3-2 defeat to Cagliari, but Lecce President Pierandrea Semeraro decided to wait before passing judgement, scheduling clear the air talks for Tuesday.
However, it emerged that the crisis meeting was brought forward so the matter could be addressed sooner rather than later.
Il Corriere dello Sport understands De Canio expressed his decision to stay on despite ongoing disagreements with some members of the board.
The former QPR manager had not taken kindly to criticism of his side's recent performances from a couple of directors.
Lecce currently lie second from bottom in Serie A and are without a win in six games in Serie A.
