Napoli striker Ezequiel Lavezzi believes his side can now push on and qualify for Europe after a bright start to life under Walter Mazzarri.
The Partenopei are unbeaten in five games under their new boss and currently lie 10th in Serie A albeit just three points off fourth place.
“To reach Europe we have to demonstrate in every game that we want to arrive there in the end,” Lavezzi explained.
“Now we have more trust, but the players are the same. The trainer and the director of sport have changed, and now you speak about Aronica, Rinaudo and Datolo; players signed by Pierpaolo Marino.”
Asked about his own position in the team, Lavezzi replied: “I always have to improve myself, above all in front of goal. But when there is serenity problems are resolved in a different way.
“For a striker it's always important to score, but for me it's fundamental that the team wins.”
Finally Lavezzi spoke about his future with the club, which has been in doubt after several arguments with Aurelio De Laurentiis.
“I have always given everything on the pitch, always the same. Tactically and technically I am stronger now than when I arrived in Italy.
“I feel important here. I don't know if I am a leader. I feel equal to the others in the dressing room. I would once again like to thank the fans for the affection they showed me the other day.
“I cannot speak about the future. You can never speak about tomorrow,” Lavezzi concluded.
