Bologna boss Franco Colomba knows it’s “a Mini against a tank,” but believes he can cause an upset against Inter today.
The Serie A leaders visit the Stadio Dall’Ara in a game you can watch LIVE from 17.00 GMT.
“I have often lost to the Nerazzurri, as is normal for a Coach of provincial clubs, but don’t forget my Reggina beat them and cost Marcello Lippi his job,” smiled the veteran.
One of the players who scored in that 2-1 result on October 1 2000 was Massimo Marazzina, who is now in the Bologna squad.
“The people want to enjoy this day, hoping to experience something memorable. We know the difficulties tied in with this game, but football means daring to dream, so why rob ourselves of that?
“We will play our football and try to put in a good performance, then see where we are when we wake up from that dream.
“We must repay our fans with a performance of generosity, dignity and enthusiasm to whittle down the gap from the reigning champions.”
Colomba adopted an intriguing analogy for today’s clash with Jose Mourinho’s superstars.
“Inter are like a tank, as physicality is one of their main characteristics. In Italy there are sides like Milan and Roma who are at times spectacular and wonderful to look at, so they are sports cars.
“As for Bologna, we are a Mini. Medium power, but every now and then can turn on the turbo and rev it up.”
Bologna squad: Colombo, Spitoni, Viviano, Britos, Lanna, Portanova, Raggi, Santos, Zenoni, Bombardini, Guana, Lavecchia, Mingazzini, Mudingayi, Valiani, Vigiani, Adailton, Di Vaio, Gimenez, Marazzina, Osvaldo, Zalayeta
