The Coach was hired earlier this week after Roberto Donadoni received his notice at the San Paolo.

“I am getting to know the lads and can have a better idea of the situation once everyone is back from international duty,” noted the former Reggina and Sampdoria boss.

“I am already certain that we all need to come together straight away to create a team spirit. That is where you start from.

“It goes from the physio to the kit staff to the players. Each and every one has to pledge to the cause in a unified manner.

“I want to see everyone celebrate good news and everyone suffer when it’s time to grit our teeth. That is the only way to build a team. And if we lose, it is only me who is to blame.”

President Aurelio De Laurentiis emptied out the transfer kitty over the summer, but so far this season Napoli have had just two wins, a draw and four defeats.

“I came here because I know this squad has great quality and the club is ambitious. There is everything it needs to win,” continued Mazzarri.

“In big arenas there is always a larger than life President. Napoli have that President as well as a team with excellent potential.”

There are reports he will switch the tactics from Donadoni’s 3-5-2 to a more attacking 3-4-3.

“It is not a tactical system that makes the difference, but rather how you apply it. I want the lads to play with a fast tempo, intensity and the right timing.

“I want a team that wins, but also entertains the fans.”

He makes his debut on the Napoli bench against Bologna on Sunday.
