Wenger wants Super Mario
Friday 23 October, 2009

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is considering making a bid for Inter striker Mario Balotelli, according to The Sun.

It’s not the first time the 19-year-old has been linked with a move to the Emirates.

Wenger is believed to admire Balotelli’s physical strength and his natural goalscoring ability.

The Gunners are still looking for a long-term replacement for Emmanuel Adebayor who moved to Manchester City in the summer.

Balotelli is being valued at around £20m and finds himself behind Samuel Eto’o and Diego Milito in Inter’s pecking order up front.

His immaturity has tested Jose Mourinho’s patience and could eventually persuade the Special One to part company with him.

Balotelli was sent off against Rubin Kazan in the Champions League earlier this month and his suspension weighed heavily especially when Inter met Dynamo Kiev on Tuesday night, as they were already without Diego Milito and had to rush Samuel Eto’o back from injury.

After the game, Mourinho lamented not having Balotelli available.

Having said that, it’s unlikely Inter President Massimo Moratti will sell the Italy Under-21 international.

Balotelli is, along with Davide Santon, one of the few stars to actually graduate from Inter’s academy.
