Marino promises to attack Inter
Friday 2 October, 2009

Udinese Coach Pasquale Marino has promised to attack Italian champions Inter on Saturday evening.

The Zebrette currently lie fifth in Serie A, just two points behind Inter who were beaten by Sampdoria last weekend.

“Our recent performances have shown that we are improving. Self-esteem has increased among our group of players. Winning helps you do well,” Marino said.

“As for Inter, there isn't anything new to report. We're facing a very strong team. It's an important occasion. We have to try and be ready.”

Marino then offered a short analysis of Inter's 1-1 draw with Rubin Kazan in midweek and their defeat to Sampdoria last Saturday.

“In Russia things were complicated a little when the Nerazzurri went down to 10 men. It wasn't easy to play as well as before with a player less.

“It was a very balanced match against Sampdoria and it was decided by a single episode. There's little to add. We need a great performance to get a result,” Marino explained.

“The two performances we put in against Inter last year give us confidence and also for this reason I say that if we think about defending for 90 minutes we'll almost certainly concede a goal.

“Moreover, if we never attack, we'll allow them to become more lucid and reactive in our half of the pitch.

“The psychological aspect and the general balances of the two teams have gone up a level. Sure, the moves will have to be more fluid and quicker, but we have already limited very offensive teams like Milan and Genoa, and that's a good sign,” Marino concluded.
