Italian giants Roma will apparently hold talks with Villarreal with a view to making a bid for Nilmar.
The Giallorossi have set their sights on the Brazilian as a replacement for Mirko Vucinic after his €15m switch to Juventus.
According to reports, Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini is ready to invest all of that fee to net Nilmar.
Villarreal, however, reportedly won't sell the South American unless a bid of €20m is tabled for the forward.
Sabatini knows Nilmar well seeing as he tried to sign him in the past while he was working for Palermo.
The forward, 27, joined Villarreal in 2009 from Internacional. He's scored 29 goals in 88 games for the Spanish outfit.
