Walter Mazzarri admits he'd “go crazy” if Napoli signed Giuseppe Rossi and Mario Balotelli but only if Ezequiel Lavezzi stayed too.
President Aurelio De Laurentiis has stated his interest in both Italy international strikers, currently playing abroad with Villarreal and Manchester City respectively.
With Lavezzi taking an extra week's vacation before pre-season training, there are reports the Argentine will be sold to raise the funds.
“I decided on Lavezzi's time off along with my staff and we took the same approach for Morgan De Sanctis,” insisted Coach Mazzarri in today's Press conference.
“Pocho wants to start the season in the best possible way and said he aims to set new club fitness records. He's fired up and highly motivated, although I don't know what'll happen after that.
“I want to train 22 top players, so at least two alternatives of the same level in every area of the side. If more talents come along, then I'm happy to deal with that ‘problem.'
“Rossi? I'd love him to come to Napoli, even as early as tomorrow, as he'd improve the quality of our squad. Rossi could play alongside Lavezzi or alternate their positions very easily.”
Manchester City outcast Balotelli has also been linked with a move to Napoli, a club that historically gives leeway for off the field behaviour.
“Balotelli has enormous class and we all know he needs to learn how to be part of a group. If we were to sign him, I'd go crazy and work like a madman to get the best out of him.”
This summer Napoli were linked with other targets, such as David Trezeguet, Mirko Vucinic and Mimmo Criscito.
“I want present champions, not past ones,” said Mazzarri of Trezeguet. “I got Cristiano Lucarelli because he is a different style of player, as he is a warrior.
“I strongly wanted Vucinic because I thought he'd be a perfect partner to both Lavezzi and Edinson Cavani. Arturo Vidal and Criscito were also objectives, but I won't talk about negotiations that aren't going any more.”
