Chelsea sent scouts to view Juventus goalkeeper Marco Storari this week, as there are concerns over Petr Cech.
The Stamford Bridge side will be without Cech for at least a month after he damaged knee ligaments in training.
According to Tuttosport, Chelsea are eyeing Storari as the ideal replacement who will then be content to return to the bench once Cech recovers.
After all, 34-year-old Storari held that role at Juventus last season during Gigi Buffon's time out for back surgery.
It is claimed Chelsea sent scouts to view Storari's performance during the Trofeo TIM mini-tournament with Inter and Milan on Thursday at the Stadio San Nicola in Bari.
