New Fiorentina signing Houssine Kharja blasted his former club and advised Alberto Gilardino. “Don't join Genoa! They are not competitive.”
Kharja spent the last six months on loan at Inter, but has now been sold to the Viola.
His new teammate, Gilardino, has been heavily linked with a transfer to Marassi, so the Moroccan did not mince his words.
“I hope Gilardino stays. I will only tell him that Fiorentina are superior to Genoa. If a player has ambitions for something better, then he cannot think of Genoa, as they are not competitive.
“There is something very wrong about the whole idea, although obviously the decision is up to him.”
Kharja certainly has no qualms about leaving the Rossoblu behind him.
“I do not miss anything about Genoa. I started well, but then the knee injury made it all more complicated.
“Along with a few fitness problems, I did not manage to satisfy the fans and they couldn't be bothered to wait for my full recovery.
“Thank goodness! At least that opened the doors for me to join Inter and then Fiorentina.”
