Liverpool outcast Alberto Aquilani told Italian newspapers, “I am close to joining Milan.”
The midfielder has become their primary transfer target after Fiorentina declared they'd only sell Riccardo Montolivo abroad.
“I am close to joining Milan,” Aquilani is quoted as telling the Gazzetta dello Sport.
The deal could well be a loan with option to buy at the end of the season, despite the fact this uncertainty is what scuppered negotiations with Fiorentina earlier in the summer.
Aquilani is desperate to return to Serie A after Juventus opted not to make his year-long loan spell permanent.
If the Rossoneri were to buy him outright, the price-tag is thought to be around €7m.
