Former Lazio President and Coach Dino Zoff has applauded the club's decision to sign Federico Marchetti.
The capital side netted the goalkeeper from Cagliari to replace Fernando Muslera who has now joined Galatasaray.
"He's a great 'keeper," said the former custodian to La Gazzetta dello Sport. "And the fact that he didn't play at all last season doesn't matter.
"He's a young man who has great hunger and who has already proved that he has real quality," added the 1982 World Cup winner.
"He's a complete No 1 because he can do everything needed very well."
Marchetti was axed from the Cagliari side last season after a falling out with President Massimo Cellino.
"It'll be difficult for Marchetti to have lost the habit of playing football," Zoff continued. "He'll need just four or five real games under his belt.
"It'll all be natural to him, just as it was a year ago."
Marchetti last played a competitive match in Italy's ill-fated 2010 World Cup campaign.
