Reports in Italy are suggesting that Roma will make an effort to snatch Fernando Gago from Real Madrid.
The Giallorossi are trying to give new boss Luis Enrique a competitive side before the window closes and Gago is the latest player linked.
The 25-year-old has struggled for regular first team football with the Spanish giants over the last two campaigns.
Gago, an Argentine international, joined the club in January 2007 after a €20m fee was agreed with Boca Juniors.
Gago, who has been linked with Inter too this summer, is understood to also be a target for Manchester City.
Roma are expected to complete the signing of Espanyol striker Pablo Daniel Osvaldo over the next 24 hours.
There are also suggestions that they have moved even closer to signing Denmark and Wolfsburg defender Simon Kjaer.
