Mattia Cassani has talked for the first time as a Fiorentina player after his switch from Palermo. "I needed a change."
The Italian international has joined the Viola on loan, with the Tuscan outfit having the option to sign him outright next summer.
"After five years at Palermo I asked the club to allow me new professional opportunities," stated the right-back.
"I chose Fiorentina because there is an air of renewal at this club. I've immediately noticed that the squad is very motivated to do well."
The Stadio Franchi outfit have had a busy summer of lowering their wage bill by selling their most high profile players.
Sebastien Frey and Adrian Mutu have already been sold, while there are doubts over the futures of Alberto Gilardino, Juan Manuel Vargas and Riccardo Montolivo.
"We hope to do some good things," continued the former Juventus youngster. "Our direct rivals have all strengthened, but we'll do all we can to qualify for Europe."
To achieve that Fiorentina will have to finish in the top six or win the Coppa Italia in the season ahead.
