Diego Lugano has overtaken Alex in Juventus' plans to sign a new centre-back before the transfer window closes.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Old Lady have decided to make an offer for the Fenerbahce man rather than the Chelsea stopper.
The Uruguayan international is the cheaper option of the two and the Old Lady have already spoken with his agent.
La Gazzetta are suggesting that the South American could be confirmed as a Juve player within the next 48 hours.
Meanwhile, it is still being reported that Juventus could swap centre-back Leonardo Bonucci with Zenit stopper Bruno Alves at some point over the next six days.
