If Genoa fail to capture Alberto Gilardino, they'll turn their attention towards Hamburg striker Jose Paolo Guerrero.
The Rossoblu have stated on numerous occasions they wish to sign Gilardino, but Fiorentina continue to cling on to their star player.
With only a few days of the transfer session remaining, it's reported Genoa are looking at Plan B.
Their next target is Hamburg hitman Guerrero, a 27-year-old who impressed for Peru this summer in the Copa America.
Although a Peruvian international, Guerrero has been in Germany since 2002, when he joined the Bayern Munich youth academy and worked his way up to the full squad.
He moved to Hamburger SV in 2006.
