Fabrizio Miccoli of Palermo has become a shock contender to join Italian giants Inter before the transfer window closes.
The Nerazzurri are looking to freshen up their attacking options after the sales of Samuel Eto'o to Anzhi and Goran Pandev to Napoli.
While Atletico Madrid ace Diego Forlan will step in for Eto'o, the Nerazzurri are struggling to net another attacker.
Genoa are so far refusing to sell Rodrigo Palacio, while Lazio have turned down the San Siro outfit's offer to take Mauro Zarate on loan.
As a result, Inter technical director Marco Branca has added Miccoli's name to a list of possible targets.
Miccoli, a former Italian international, is now 32 and has been at Palermo since his 2007 arrival.
His future at the Stadio Barbera has been placed into some doubt over the last week.
