Andrea Poli has admitted that his move from Sampdoria to Inter has come as a bit of a surprise.
Poli was looked at by a number of clubs following Samp's relegation to Serie B, but it seemed as if he would be staying at Marassi.
"It was all a bit unexpected, but I'm over the moon about it," the loan signing stated. "It's a terrific opportunity for me and a dream come true.
"I'll be taking up the challenge with determination and will be giving it everything I can. I have come to a really great club and it's an honour for me.
"I'll do all in my power to deserve this Inter shirt."
Poli signed his contract with the Nerazzurri on Monday after a weekend of negotiations between the two sides.
"I'd like to thank all of the fans," continued the former Under-21 international. "I promise them I'll do my best here.
"I can't wait to meet up with my new teammates and to start working with them and with my new Coach.
"He's a terrific Coach and he created quite a few problems for us [Sampdoria] when he was in Genoa.
"I'm really pleased he'll be training me and I can't wait to meet him for the first session."
Gian Piero Gasperini was boss at Genoa, city rivals to Poli's Sampdoria.
