Roma will try to convince Miralem Pjanic to accept a switch from Lyon to the Stadio Olimpico before the transfer window closes.
The 21-year-old Bosnian is wanted by the Giallorossi to strengthen their midfield at the request of boss Luis Enrique.
It was believed that the Italian club would net Fernando Gago from Real Madrid, but it seems that Pjanic is actually their top target.
The transfer has been agreed between both clubs, but Roma will now have to thrash out personal terms with the player.
Pjanic joined Lyon in 2008 after impressing at Metz.
Gago, meanwhile, is said to be attracting the interest of Palermo.
