Riccardo Montolivo is still at Fiorentina and “from Wednesday we will start to discuss his future and try to continue our adventure together.”
The midfielder was stripped of the captaincy and lambasted by fans after refusing to sign a contract extension, as his deal expires in June 2012.
An expected summer transfer did not materialise when he turned down Roma and the Viola rejected Milan's offer.
“From Wednesday we will sit down with Montolivo and start to discuss his future,” general manager Sandro Mencucci told SportItalia.
“We will try to continue our adventure together. As for Alberto Gilardino, there have been a lot of rumours and many of them untrue. He is crucial for us.”
Fiorentina will present new signings Santiago Silva to the media later today.
“El Tanque is an excellent player who can do very well in Florence,” added Mencucci.
