Diego Fabbrini has pulled out of Italy's Under-21 European Championship qualifier against Hungary.
The Azzurrini are set to open their campaign in Szekesfehervar on Tuesday afternoon as the road to Euro 2013 begins.
Udinese creative midfielder Fabbrini picked up an injury during a friendly test against Botafogo.
He was diagnosed with a sprained left knee and has been sent home.
Coach Ciro Ferrara has not called in a replacement, as the squad flies out to Hungary later this afternoon.
