Andrea Ranocchia reveals Inter players were only told about Diego Forlan's Champions League ineligibility through the newspapers.
On Saturday it emerged that the striker is cup-tied until January because Atletico Madrid qualified for the Europa League after he took part in the third preliminary round.
“We were surprised too,” revealed teammate Ranocchia, who is currently on international duty with Italy.
“Those Inter players away from the club right now only read about it today. We haven't heard from anyone at Inter, so we only found out through the newspapers.”
Nerazzurri President Massimo Moratti is said to be furious at the oversight, especially as Forlan is taking up a space on the UEFA list and cannot be removed.
