Francesco Totti is still a point of reference for everyone in the Roma squad, says new boy Fernando Gago.
The captain's role in the capital has been placed into doubt following the arrival of new owners and a new Coach, Luis Enrique, at the Stadio Olimpico.
Nevertheless, summer signing Gago has underlined the Italian's importance during his official presentation on Monday.
"Totti is very important, on and off the pitch, for what he has won and for his charisma," said the Argentine.
"He's an example for everyone to follow, for the young players and for players like me who have arrived from abroad.
"The fact that he has played his football here for so long is proof of that. It's always nice to watch him train."
Gago has only arrived from Real Madrid on loan, but he insists he's not thinking about what may occur next summer.
"We'll see what happens in the future, I'm just here to win a first team shirt," added the South American.
"Daniele De Rossi? There won't be any problems. We can co-exist in the same team, I can play anywhere in midfield.
"I had some injury problems last season and it was complicated. However, I played in the Copa America and I'm feeling good."
