Napoli are now a strong enough side to believe that they can win the Scudetto this season, says Marcello Lippi.
The Azzurri were a revelation last term when they finished third, qualifying for the Champions League in the process, before a summer of heavy transfer reinforcement.
"Napoli must try to win the title," Lippi, who won League crowns at Juventus, told Radio Kiss Kiss on Friday.
"I've already said in three or four interviews that the Azzurri, along with Milan, have a little more than other clubs.
"Those two sides have managed to keep their respective Coaches. The other teams are strong, but they have new tacticians."
The Italian championship won't be the only target this term though given that the Azzurri will also be playing in Europe's premier club competition.
"Napoli and their boss Walter Mazzarri have opted to increase the size of their squad and they were right to do so," the former Italy Coach added.
"You need to rotate your team between the championship and the Champions League.
"Napoli have created a squad that has grown in stature and is now being built for the international stage."
