Genoa President Enrico Preziosi has high expectations for the new season. "This is one of the best squads I've ever had."
The Marassi chief has again had a busy summer on the transfer market both in the buying and selling stakes.
And after a rather disappointing 2010-11 campaign, he expects his side to end the term closer to the top than the bottom of the standings.
"I think this is one of the best group of players assembled during my footballing life," Preziosi told the club's website.
"It's a well balanced squad in all departments of the team. There is physicality, youthfulness, experience and quality.
"Taking a look at the competition and the value of our players, I won't be happy if we only finish in ninth or tenth place.
"There is everything we need to have a say in the championship, even if it is clear that the top three or four teams will be in a race of their own."
Preziosi also decided for another coaching change at the club after Gian Piero Gasperini and Davide Ballardini last term with the appointment of Alberto Malesani.
"He is sincere, simple, a man of football," the Stadio Ferraris chief continued. "I think he has the desire to do something special with us."
