Novara President Carlo Accornero has declared his Coach Attilio Tesser is his club's version of Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
The comparison came as the 53-year-old Coach secured the Piedmont club's first Serie A point of the season, and indeed of the last 55 years, with a come-from-behind 2-2 draw at Chievo.
"We are happy to have a Coach of Tesser's class, plus the exceptional staff created by [sporting director] Mauro Perderzoli, who has brought in motivated players.
"Tesser as Ferguson? This statement is not wrong.
"The strength of this team's force is in the group, and the comeback gives us great comfort for the championship.
"I'm sorry we could not have our debut as scheduled in Week 1 against Palermo, because it would have been another good party.
"We have adapted the ground working day and night since June and it would have been a great reward for those committed."
The newly-promoted side instead start the season at home against last season's runners-up Inter:
"This match excites us. In Verona [against Chievo] we suffered early in the first half hour, but the same thing happened last year at Padova in Serie B.
"Facing Inter in the League will be a wonderful night, and if I were to satisfy demand for tickets we could fill a stadium of 100,000 seats."
Novara play Cagliari away in Week 3, before Week 4's midweek fixtures sees the Nerazzurri's visit.
