Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini has expressed his hope that new Coach Devis Mangia becomes the 'Arsene Wenger' of Italian football.
Speaking to Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli, the Rosanero owner revelled in the team's opening League win over Inter.
"I'm very pleased with the victory. I was also very pleased to receive a call fro Aurelio De Laurentiis immediately after the game. He complimented me and told me not to lose our Coach as he is very good.
"We hope this is the start of long cycle with this Coach. I hope Palermo becomes the Arsenal of Italian football, and that Mangia becomes our Arsene Wenger."
Mangia took charge of the team less than two weeks ago and is the Sicilian side's fourth Coach inside the last five months.
Due to not possessing the required UEFA Pro Licence accreditation the League requires of each Coach, his role is officially classified in a caretaker capacity.
Zamparini has confirmed that sporting director Sean Sogliano and he will sit down with Mangia to renegotiate the Coach's €9,000 annual salary.
The President has also committed to working with his latest Coach to at least the end of the two years on his current deal.
