Italy Coach Cesare Prandelli has told Antonio Cassano he's “waiting for him soon,” stood up for Mario Balotelli and hopes the strike will be called off.
Cassano was the focus of the new Azzurri squad, but as he is not playing due to a contract dispute with Sampdoria, he won't be called for international duty.
“I do not have any particular advice for Cassano. I only say that I'm waiting for him soon,” commented Prandelli.
Another young talent, Balotelli, was involved in an altercation with teammates at Manchester City.
“As for Balotelli, everyone argues in training. It's not really a story. The trouble is that when Mario does anything wrong, it always ends up in the newspapers.”
This weekend's Serie A round could be called off due to a players' strike.
“In my view, common sense will prevail and a deal will be struck.”
