Maarten Stekelenburg has no regrets about leaving Ajax for Roma this summer despite the Italian side's poor start to the season.
The Giallorossi are struggling to impress under new boss Luis Enrique after being dumped out of the Europa League and losing 2-1 at home to Cagliari on Sunday in Serie A.
Those results have put the outfit under the spotlight for all the wrong reasons, but the Dutchman is happy with his choice of new club.
"I was ready for a new challenge," the international shot-stopper told Elf Voetbal. "My family and I are convinced that we made the right choice.
"Roma are a bigger club than Ajax and this is a step forward in my career."
Stekelenburg, 28, has also quickly understood what type of pressure you are placed under when playing for any of the two capital sides.
"Roma are a club of the people," continued the No 1. "You cannot walk on the street or go shopping normally here.
"They are ruthless in their criticism when things don't go well, but on the other hand they transmit an incredible charge when things do."
