Novara Coach Attilio Tesser was sacked by Cagliari and returns to face his former club this afternoon.
The tactician has taken the little club to back-to-back promotions from Serie C to the top flight, earning himself the nickname ‘Novara's Sir Alex Ferguson.'
Tesser was axed by President Massimo Cellino after just one game in the 2005-06 season and steps back into the Stadio Sant'Elia at 17.00 UK time.
“I am not looking for revenge. I do think Cellino made a mistake at the time, but this is football,” said the Coach.
“If I meet him today, then of course I'm happy to say hello. There were players in that squad who are still at Cagliari, like Daniele Conti and Andrea Cossu, a lad who I gave his Serie A debut.
“We are facing a side that has been playing in the same way for a long time and that makes it a complicated game for us.”
Tesser rings the changes after a 2-2 draw at Chievo, fielding the front two of Taka Morimoto and ex-Cagliari striker Jeda.
“Riccardo Meggiorini is injured and I really liked Pablo Granoche last week, but want to try players with different characteristics against Cagliari.”
