Massimiliano Allegri defends his tactics against Barcelona and is confident Milan can trouble Napoli despite an injury crisis.
The 2-2 Champions League draw at the Nou Camp was a great result, but some in the Italian and European media criticised the Rossoneri for their approach.
“We did not employ catenaccio tactics. We simply used our characteristics,” insisted the Coach.
“Barcelona always dominate possession against every team in the world. However, while they score hatfuls of goals against the others, they only had three shots on target with us.
“We had an excellent 25 minutes and certainly could've done better on the counter-attack, but it remains a wonderful performance, even if we didn't attack the way we usually do.”
Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Robinho missed out on that game and are still injured, while Massimo Ambrosini dislocated his shoulder and Kevin-Prince Boateng pulled a muscle between his ribs.
“Gennaro Gattuso has a problem with his optic nerve,” added Allegri. “Tomorrow evening we will step on to the field with two strikers, who will be Alexandre Pato and Antonio Cassano.”
The clash with Napoli at the San Paolo was one of the deciders for the Scudetto last season and could be again in 2011-12.
“It is going to be an important game, as Napoli have reinforced the midfield and strengthened the squad, so I consider them candidates for the Scudetto.
“Our options are limited by injuries, but we will go to Naples looking to play a great game. It is in these situations that the side can prove its strength. Don't forget we started slowly last season too, then found our balance and won the title.”
