Stevan Jovetic's agent has revealed that Pantaleo Corvino was the reason his client joined Fiorentina.
Fali Ramadani revealed in an interview with Florence paper La Nazione of Fiorentina sporting director Corvino's persistence and attention convinced the then-19-year-old Partizan Belgrade player to join the Viola, ahead of some interesting competitors.
"The largest names in Europe were interested in Stevan, and I do not exaggerate, in particular were Real Madrid, who had come forward with an interesting proposal.
"Of course we talked with Jojo, but he was struck by the insistence of Corvino, calling him every day, he wanted him the most. He wanted it all.
"[Corvino] spoke about the squad and its development, and showed an interest that deserved respect, and a consideration.
"Stevan finally decided to sign with the club. He signed even though he had other options."
Jovetic signed in May 2008 for a reported 8m fee, and has recently returned to the team after a lengthy absence through injury.
After scoring his first goals for the club in over 18 months on Wednesday against Parma, he confirmed his intention to sign a new contract with Fiorentina.
