Inter President Massimo Moratti welcomes Claudio Ranieri and insists Gian Piero Gasperini “was always given support.”
The former Coach felt somewhat abandoned during his brief stint in charge, especially when the club urged him to change his 3-4-3 tactics.
“That is not true,” assured Moratti in the Gazzetta dello Sport. “Gasperini was always given support, even if some newspapers tried to paint it otherwise.
“We tried everything so that it would go well and Gasperini understood that too, but his attempts were unlucky.”
Today Ranieri was given his debut Press conference as the new Inter tactician.
“At this moment what we above all need is a Coach of great experience and Ranieri fits the bill.
“I saw he was very fired up and I think he has the right characteristics, starting from the good common sense necessary to revitalise both the squad and its individuals.
“The feeling I get is that the team should be put back together by following a little bit of logic, therefore asking them to play the same way they had in recent years.
“The other big clubs have slowed down too, so it's almost as if Serie A is waiting for us to recover. Of course, now it's time to start winning.”
