Claudio Ranieri has named his first Inter line-up with Coutinho, Giampaolo Pazzini and Diego Forlan in Bologna.
The Coach makes his debut on the bench in the 17.00 UK time kick-off at the Stadio Dall'Ara.
He only took on his first training session on Thursday, as Gian Piero Gasperini was sacked following Tuesday's 3-1 defeat to Novara.
Ranieri has to do without the injured Wesley Sneijder, Dejan Stankovic, Ivan Cordoba, Douglas Maicon, Thiago Motta, Andrea Poli and Emiliano Viviano, while Andrea Ranocchia begins a three-match ban.
He has opted to throw Cicinho into the starting XI with Forlan, who is cup-tied for the Champions League, and the up until now ignored Pazzini.
As expected, Inter switch back to a 4-4-2 following Gasperini's unsuccessful attempts at a three-man defence.
Bologna picked up their first point of the campaign in a 1-1 draw away to Juventus on Wednesday evening and are hoping to register another upset.
Alessandro Diamanti and Jean-Francois Gillet passed last-minute fitness tests, though Andrea Raggi, Niccolo' Cherubin and Cruz were out of action.
