Edy Reja hailed Lazio's character as they fought back in Florence and match-winner Miroslav Klose.
“This was the victory of a team with great character, especially in the second half when we were running low on energy,” he said of the 2-1 win over Fiorentina.
Alessio Cerci had put the home side ahead, but Hernanes and a late Klose header turned it around.
“It was incredibly hot today and both sides created chances. It was a good game, in the circumstances.
“We did well when defending and kept control of the tempo. It is true we were suffering in the second half, so I introduced Matuzalem.
“Cristian Brocchi deserves particular praise, as he is extraordinary in how he sacrifices himself for the team. I just hope he can keep it up for the whole season.
“As for Klose, he is a fantastic striker and I already wanted him at Lazio in January.”
