Davide Ballardini is in pole position to replace Pierpaolo Bisoli at Bologna, the Gazzetta dello Sport claims.
Bisoli's future as Coach at the Stadio Dall'Ara is in doubt given their problematic start to the campaign.
The Rossoblu are currently bottom of the table with just one point from five games after Sunday's 2-0 loss at Udinese.
Bisoli, formerly of Cesena, was only appointed by the club during the summer.
Ballardini is available following his Genoa exit at the end of last season.
Former Parma boss Pasquale Marino and ex-Lecce man Gigi De Canio are also been linked with the job should it become vacant.
