Manuel Pasqual is hopeful that he'll sign a new contract with Fiorentina by the end of this month.
The left-back is only contracted to the outfit until June 2012, but talks have been taking place regarding a renewal.
"The club made me an offer this morning and I made my requests," the 29-year-old told Sky Sport Italia. "I hope we can wrap things up by next week.
"I want to end my career here. Both of us are happy with a proposed three-year deal and I'm optimistic."
Pasqual, who joined the club from Arezzo in 2005, was also asked about his international future – despite the last of his two caps coming in 2006.
"I did hope that I would be called up for the next two Euro 2012 qualifiers," continued the Viola man.
"That's also because Coach Cesare Prandelli said that he'd call up those players most in form," he explained.
"Nevertheless, the Azzurri squad is still an objective of mine for the future."
