Chievo are considering an artificial pitch, but goalkeeper Stefano Sorrentino doesn't trust them. “I prefer an ugly, but natural, turf.”
This season there are two Serie A stadiums with a synthetic surface, Novara's Stadio Piola and the Stadio Manuzzi in Cesena.
It has been widely reported that the Stadio Bentegodi in Verona, used by Chievo, will also invest in the new technology after years of problems with the choppy surface.
“To be honest, I'm not crazy about it,” Sorrentino told Radio Blu after a draw at Cesena last week.
“I prefer an ugly, but natural, turf rather than a synthetic one. There are some elements in it that hold in the humidity, so the ball can skim.
“We have to watch out, as the bounce is unnatural.”
