Giuseppe Rossi believes Antonio Cassano “was blowing off steam,” but tips Napoli and Juventus for the Scudetto.
The Villarreal star commented on his Italy teammate's suggestion he'd give up football within the next four years due to stress.
“I think he was just blowing off steam. It would really be a shame if he did stop in three and a half years, if of course that does happen,” Rossi told Radio Kiss Kiss.
“Cesare Prandelli has done great things with Italy and the results prove it. It was very important that we qualify top of the group.”
Rossi had been close to joining Napoli over the summer and cast his eye over the current Serie A situation.
“I am focusing only on Villarreal, so we can do well in Serie A and the Champions League. I don't know anything about a possible future at Napoli.
“This season I think Napoli and Juventus are in good shape and have excellent Coaches, so they can win the Scudetto.
“Inter and Milan will get back on track and resume the race for the title too. I think we're going to see a fantastic Serie A season.”
