Inter goalkeeper Luca Castellazzi was furious with the referee in Catania. “It was evident I was trying to get out of the way.”
The Nerazzurri lost 2-1 in Sicily thanks to a Francesco Lodi penalty, awarded when Gonzalo Bergessio fell over his body.
“If we want to justify the referee by saying he is human and can make mistakes, then that is true, but this incident weighs heavily on the match,” said Castellazzi.
“It seemed evident that I was trying to get out of the way and pulled my hands back to ensure I didn't make contact.
“The striker was coming towards me and if he leaves his leg trailing, I certainly cannot disappear. It's a shame, as this decided the match.
“I was told I should've complained more, but the referee had already booked me and I didn't want to get sent off. I think when he made the decision, the referee had a thousand doubts in his mind.”
Castellazzi was filling in for Julio Cesar, who picked up a muscular problem on international duty with Brazil.
