Giorgio Chiellini's agent has defended his client – and brother – from criticism being thrown at the Juventus stopper.
The Italian international has had a tough start to the campaign and his performance against Genoa on Saturday was questioned by some in the media.
"He made mistakes and it's right to accept criticism," Claudio Chiellini told Tuttosport. "Giorgio is the first to be critical of himself.
"However, the media attacks seems a little excessive and it seems as if they are looking for a scapegoat," he continued.
"It is being made out to seem that Juventus' problem is Chiellini. It's true that he's making errors, like against Catania and against Chievo, but he was the best defender in Italy for three years.
"These are just episodes, all unfortunate ones as every time they happen Juventus concede a goal.
"But don't forget that he has given a lot to Juventus over the last six years."
Chiellini, a centre-back, is currently being used on the left by boss Antonio Conte give his lack of options at full-back.
