Davide Ballardini has revealed why he has turned down the opportunity to replace Marco Giampaolo at Cesena.
Ballardini was approached by the Seahorses after the League's bottom club axed Giampaolo following Sunday's 2-0 defeat at Parma.
"I love Cesena and I grew up with them, but, after thinking about it, I preferred to reject the job," he told Radio Mana Mana.
"I'm very attached to the city and I would have been embarrassed had I not been able to save the club from the drop.
"It wasn't because contract terms couldn't be agreed. We didn't even talk about that, it's just that I love the club too much."
Ballardini spent seven years with Cesena as a player before he became the Coach of their Primavera side.
The former Lazio boss also rejected an offer from Bologna earlier this term after being left unconvinced by the squad at their disposal.
