Sampdoria have officially sacked Coach Gianluca Atzori after today’s 1-0 Serie B home defeat to Vicenza.
The tactician had been hanging by a thread, but the final straw came this afternoon as they slipped down to seventh place.
The Blucerchiati have managed only five wins, seven draws and three defeats this term and are well off the promotion pace already.
“Unfortunately, we reached the decision to remove Atzori from his position,” announced director of sport Pasquale Sensibile.
“We thank him for the work he has done. On a personal note, I can say I’m proud to have chosen this man to lead the team.
“The club will take 36 hours to choose the next Coach, so you’ll know more on Tuesday morning.”
