Fernando Muslera returns to the Stadio Olimpico on Tuesday as Uruguay face Italy. “It’s so emotional to be back there.”
The former Lazio goalkeeper is currently plying his trade in Turkey with Galatasaray, but experiences his old hunting ground in an international friendly in Rome.
“I spent some marvellous years with Lazio and got on with everyone,” Muslera told Sky Sport Italia.
“The Olimpico was my home stadium for a long time and it’s so emotional to be back playing there again.
“I am still in contact with several of my former teammates. We have a good rapport, something that goes beyond football. I met some wonderful people in my time in Italy.”
The shot-stopper is also still cheering on Lazio, who are joint Serie A leaders with Udinese.
“I am not remotely surprised to see them up there, as the Biancocelesti are a great squad. This is a solid group formed by fantastic lads.”
