Parma have told Sebastian Giovinco to prove himself at the Stadio Tardini if he wants to succeed Alessandro Del Piero at Juventus.
Giovinco, part owned by both clubs, is being paired with a summer switch to Turin as a replacement for the departing 37-year-old.
“I hope that Giovinco can be the post-Del Piero, but in order to get to those levels he has to keep working,” Gialloblu chief Tommaso Ghirardi noted.
“Saying that, Giovinco can give a contribution to the international side and I’m thankful to Italy boss Cesare Prandelli for calling him up to the squad.
“Giovinco has quality and, fortunately, we own half of his contract.”
Meanwhile, the player’s agent has insisted that the No 10 is focused on just this season and not a possible summer switch to Juve.
“It is important that he does well with Parma,” noted Andrea D’Amico to Radio Mana Mana. “That is his priority right now.
“It’s hard to say what will happen in the future, but he’s destined to have a great career. He just has to concentrate on getting to Euro 2012 in the best form possible.”
