Stefano Mauri’s agent has revealed that his client is still at least three months away from a return to action following surgery.
The Lazio and Italian international had an operation on November 4 to correct the effects of a torn left thigh muscle.
It was unclear how long the attacking midfielder would be sidelined for, but Tiziano Gonzaga says the former Udinese man will be back before the end of the campaign.
“Stefano is doing well,” the representative stated. “He’s working hard and with a lot of enthusiasm to be back in action as soon as possible.
“I think that we’ll see him back towards the end of February, I doubt that it will be before then in all honesty.
“He starts his rehabilitation programme at seven in the morning and he doesn’t finish until seven in the evening.
“He is undergoing a range of different treatments in his effort to fully recover.”
Mauri, 31, has made just two Serie A appearances for Lazio this term – totalling 116 minutes of action.
