Massimiliano Allegri praised Milan's reaction to their Ajax defeat and explained Andrea Pirlo's adjustment. “Now for Roma.”
The Rossoneri were beaten 2-0 in the Champions League midweek in a game that had no bearing on their qualification, but it was still a blight on their current fine form.
“We started in the best possible way and brought a lot of intensity to the match,” he said of their 3-0 victory away to Bologna.
“The defeat to Ajax was actually good for us, because even if it didn't count for anything, it could still affect our mentality. Instead, the team reacted straight away.
“Now bring on Roma and a very difficult game to finish off 2010 on a positive note.”
Milan consolidated their Serie A lead to six points, depending on what happens this evening between Juventus and Lazio.
Pirlo is playing in a new role more wide midfield, leaving Massimo Ambrosini in that deep position.
“At this moment I think Pirlo plays better as a ‘mezz'ala', because Ambrosini gives us better protection in front of the defence.
“It also allows Pirlo to spread around the field more and be more creative. He enjoys this position a great deal and is doing it well.”
