Edinson Cavani was exhilarated as his brace helped Napoli beat Manchester City. “We must enjoy this wonderful moment for us and our fans.”
The Uruguayan striker has been suffering from a goal drought recently, but hit the back of the net twice in tonight’s 2-1 Champions League victory.
“We must enjoy this moment because it is wonderful, both for us and our fans,” said the brace hero.
“We will always fight to the very end and tonight we gave everything we had.
“I dedicate the double to the Napoli fans, to God who always helps me, and to my family.”
Napoli will be mathematically qualified for the Champions League knockouts if they beat Villarreal in the final round.
The Spaniards have so far lost all five of their Group A games and are a shadow of their former selves, having lost Neymar and Giuseppe Rossi to long-term injuries.
Napoli could also go through if Manchester City fail to beat the already-qualified Bayern Munich in their last game.
“Villarreal? Right now we have to think about Atalanta,” concluded Cavani.
