Inter striker Samuel Eto'o has made no secret of his desire to win the Club World Cup in Abu Dhabi.
The treble winners face South Korean side Seongnam in the competition's Semi-Final on Wednesday.
"Even if we won everything last season, you never saw the best team in the world on the pitch," Eto'o said.
"And, since the beginning of the season, we knew that we would have to defend everything that we had won before: It's difficult.
"The injuries have created difficulties. We haven't been able to play two games in a row lining up the same formation. We have had to adapt ourselves to the situation.
"Despite everything, nothing is compromised. We are distant from the top of the League, but everything is still to play for.
"We had a similar situation last season when we had a 10-point lead on our opponents and had to wait until the last day to become Italian champions. And in the Champions League, the objective was above all to qualify for the Last 16. Now the competition takes another path and it will take more concentration.
"We know that the fans expect better from us and we know that we can get there."
Asked if the Club World Cup is a kind of revenge for him given he missed the competition through injury in 2006, Eto'o said: "But I'd already played in this tournament with Real Madrid and I won it when I was much younger than now.
"Unfortunately I was never able to play in it with Barcelona, but this isn't the reason why I have the spirit of revenge. I am conscious of the opportunity of being able to finally participate in it with Inter and I am working to be at my best level and to give the best of myself.
"I really hope that the help I give to my teammates will allow us to get the victories that we all dream about, first in the Semi-Final and then in the Final."
