Clarence Seedorf has underlined his belief that Milan will be able to fight for the Champions League trophy this season.
The Rossoneri may have missed out on their target of topping Group H, but the Dutchman believes they proved their strength in the recent 3-2 loss to Barcelona.
“Anything can happen in football,” the central midfielder stated. “We can reach the Final of the Champions League.
“This team is really motivated,” he added. “A lot of the players here haven’t won the Champions League yet. That is the real challenge for us.
“We played well against Barcelona, where we demonstrated our value. I don’t think there are that many teams who could score the goals we did against Barca.”
With one game to go in the group section, both Barcelona and Milan have already qualified for the last 16.
Seedorf, 35, remained at Milan over the summer after the former Real Madrid player signed a new one-year deal.
“I don’t like spending time on the bench,” he said after one goal in six Serie A matches so far this term.
“I know that the Coach rotates everyone, but I want people to know that I want to play all of the time. I love playing and even one game as substitute is one too many.
“My future? That will become clearer in April. But I’m more interested in seeing what we have achieved by then because getting to the Champions League Final is the top target.”
